Levels
Beginners
There are a few staples that we would deal with first which cover:
- basic right hand and left hand technique
- posture
- basic chord vocabulary
- notes on the fretboard
- introduction to notes, rhythms, and tablature
From there, I try to get students playing the music of their choice, though guitar based music is always ideal. I will also suggest songs that the student will enjoy from a variety of eras, but tick many of the boxes of building good technique and rhythmic sense.
For Intermediate:
These are students of all ages who have been playing a while, but are looking to advance their abilities but need help in how to go about that. I aim to present different paths relevant to the students musical interests that meet them where they are at. Topics can range from:
- Soloing over chord changes in styles they are interested in
- reading music
- learning more advanced songs in a more precise way
- advanced playing techniques
- introduction to chord types and construction
- intro to chord voicing techniques
- practice strategies
For Advanced Students:
These students are quite far along in their playing facility, but want to have a deeper awareness of the music language and how to apply it. Also, to hone their rhythmic skills and being comfortable playing in more advanced playing situations. Topics can range from:
- Advanced Music Reading
- Advanced Rhythmic Feel
- Advanced lead guitar skills
- Advanced Chord Scale Theory
- Advanced Songwriting Skills
- Advanced Practice Strategies
You will be in good company. I love what I do and have been teaching people of many ages for over 20 years.
There’s nothing more enjoyable than talking about and playing music with people.

Suggestions For Optimizing Online Experience
Large Viewing Screen… ie: If possible, tether your computer to your television.
External Desktop usb mic: This enhances the quality of audio that I hear when you speak and when you play
Zoom Settings: When possible, configure audio settings to “Original Sound For Musicians – On”
Do not use earbuds with built in mic feature: These are great just for speaking, but not useful for guitar lessons because the built in mic doesn’t pickup your guitar playing… only your voice
