Sean Meredith Jones

Musical Educator

I have been playing guitar for almost 40 years and teaching private guitar lessons for over 25 years.  I have am also an adjunct guitar and small ensemble professor at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario.  As much as I love to play music, I love teaching it equally as much. I graduated with a B.Mus degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston. I studied with teachers who were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their craft and teaching it. It was there that I spent 4 years learning eveything I could about music and playing the guitar. How to hear it, perform it, write it, compose it, and arrange it. Over the years, I have refined my teaching process and have aquired a wealth of resources and tools that I can share with each student.

2003

In 2003 I released my first full album “New Time”. All instrumental songs which blended rock, blues, and jazz in my own way. I learned a lot about songwriting, leading a band, producing, and what it takes to record my own music. I was very fortunate to have my freinds play on this record who also happened to be outstanding world class musicians themselves.

2006

In 2006, I recorded my second full length album “Turn Up The Good”. I had just had a custom tele style guitar made for me, and it had a really distinct sound which really was the primary driver of the sound of that record. It was way more bluesy and funky than anything I had recorded up until that point. It was also inspired by a huge retro funk/soul movement happening in the clubs of Toronto at the time.

2016

In 2016, I released a single called “No Light Between The Shadows”. I really wanted to try my hand at making an orchestra of guitars and seeing what I could make it sound like. I was super into guitar fx and production, so I really went after trying to coax creative sounds out of all the guitar that blurred the lines between drums, keyboards, bass, and guitar. The song was in a really dark and brooding mode of phrygian which inspired the title.

2016-2018

In 2016 and 2018 I performed two shows at the Jazz Bistro in Toronto in tribute of Jeff Beck. To me, Jeff is one of the most lyrical guitar players ever. His career has spanned over 50 years and he’s released dozens of records and has really revolutionized combining so many different music styles at once but still remaining a voice of rock and roll. The music was some of the most challenging stuff I’ve ever played. I was very happy the shows were well received.
